A Glarry short scale bass in natural finish was delivered on time. All it needed was a setup like any new bass. A couple fret ends needed a little filing and action lowered, but that is no big deal. I decided to put flat wound strings on it. What a deal.
Worked out very well for my intentions- had a couple problems with the neck and Glarry made it right with a quick partial refund, with which I was able to buy a really nice high gloss maple yellow/gold neck with good fret job on amazn for under 50. that fit perfectly. I got new tuners (25.) and also a nice cut-down compensated bridge at wally world for under 20. It takes the shorter size 84 or 85mm vintage type bridge. Had to re-drill most of the screw holes to replace the pick guard, which was ...Worked out very well for my intentions- had a couple problems with the neck and Glarry made it right with a quick partial refund, with which I was able to buy a really nice high gloss maple yellow/gold neck with good fret job on amazn for under 50. that fit perfectly. I have the green model; this is a beautiful guitar body for modding/upgrading.
Fun little kit! As a kit it isn't a challenge but when you're done you have a ok cheap little guitar. Nothing a serious guitarist would want but it plays and for the price it's amazing.
Great practice bass, or in my case, the only bass I'm comfortable playing. So much fun, inspires me to write more because I'm not worried about the debt incurred buying it!
No it's not a Fender or a Gibson but I was surprised for the price the fun it was to paint the body and build it and the sound that's super fun. I spray painted the body. I won't post the pic because everyone will mock my colour... haha
Absolutely amazing product for not only this price point, but for an all around instrument for any level player. I personally did a setup and was ready to go. Customer Service was quick and on point. I received my bass much faster than the expected delivery date. Thanks again Glarry!!!
This bass arrived in excellent condition and was easy to tune. The pickups sound good, although output was on the low side. Very lightweight, and I will put this in the class of basses I have played costing 2-5 times more. No set up issues currently, but I am relearning after a 20+ year break from years of weekend gigging. The included bag is fine, but offers little protection. The stock strings have the feel of much higher cost ones as well. Overall, I will give this a five for the money, ...This bass arrived in excellent condition and was easy to tune. This was a great axe to get my chops back, and I will get reacquainted with my flame top 5 string after I build my confidence on this.
This is the first guitar kit I have ever built and was truly impressed with how well the wood was prepared, very little sanding was required.
Quality of the wood was great, beautiful grain without any chips, nicks, or damage from shipping.
As with all kits the electrical components are of lower quality, this is how they are able to sell this product at the price point they do. For a starter guitar the components are fine and can easily be upgraded as you progress in your ability.
I am a beginner so I bought this at what I considered a very good price. It may need better strings or some adjustments eventually but in the mean time I can start learning the fundamentals of bass guitar.
I love the guitar kits by this company, great for beginners. the most important things to keep in mind while building is 1. Make sure to use the video as a resource for instructions, and 2. make sure to adjust the bridge. It sounds decent and looks great with just wood or if you decide to customize it.
This is a kick butt kit to learn the basics of guitar setup. And it sounds good even with the supplied pickups. You can swap in some better stuff and have a really nice tight playable good looking guitar. It's real value for the price.
wonderful rig, just has some bridge issues and neck issues. just a bit of setup is required. its GREAT for beginning guitarists and luthiers. definitely ordering more from here.
The 170 is my 5th Glarry Guitar I have the GIB 4 string Bass, The GTL Maple Fretboard, The GST-E Lightning Style and a Burning Fire, All are good well Built with nice finishes. They all have a great sound to them. However, my new 170 has a problem with the neck. The distance from the Big E string to the end of the fret is almost nonexistent and when I play bar cords the E string will try to roll of the fretboard. I don't think this is something I can Fix, other than replace the Neck. It has a go ...The 170 is my 5th Glarry Guitar I have the GIB 4 string Bass, The GTL Maple Fretboard, The GST-E Lightning Style and a Burning Fire, All are good well Built with nice finishes. It was a gift, for a young man who use to play a full bass in a school band. He seemed very happy when he opened the box. Will let you know more later. Thank you for your next day delivery. That was great!!! Went to look at the tracking # and was told it was outside my door. WOW!
I was very surprised on how much I enjoy this bass. For the price you can't go wrong. It's perfect to just sit around and jam. With the built-in tuner it makes is nice to tune on the fly. So far I'm very pleased with this instrument.
Great job love the quality and sound! It's definitely 1000 times better than anything First Act guitars have ever built. If you have mechanical skills then this is a simple project. May have small issues but with carpenters skills it's nothing to fear. I will definitely be buying more. Great way to supplement any income.
guitar is beautiful and nice! amp is good as well but i did not receive the bag for this guitar..i assumed it was an add on purchase but apparently it was supposed to come with the combo which i unfortunately did not receive :(
I guess I was expecting a little better guitar than what I got. First off the neck had a bow in it and it was unfinished the frets were sticking out on the sides so I had to shim the neck and then take the nut off and trim that down some send it down just to get the strings close enough to the neck to where it was halfway playable just shoddy workmanship. I will never order from Glarry again.
