I love my active 6 string bass

Bought to learn 6 string without breaking my bank account. Came set up and ready to play, and sounds beefy on the low end and crispy on the high

While getting an active bass for this price is great--the 9volt is constantly being used even when the bass is not plugged in. Please note you will have to remove your 9volt every time you play this thing so it doesn't die on you while its sitting on the rack. Incredibly disappointing result from what I originally thought was an excellent purpose and if I could rate this purchase again I would give only one or two stars. Definitely would recommend the passive version As a long time 4 string player I was not sure if I wanted to add one string or two. After a friend of mine really enjoyed his Glarry 5 string, I figured I'd check out the six and see if it was for me. Overall, I'm very impressed--the bass came surprisingly well set up and after throwing in my 9volt and tuning I was essentially good to go. If you're like me and trying to learn how to play a six string, this might be the right purchase for you. A lot of folks in these reviews seem to speak to buzzy electronics, but I haven't noticed much on my end. Six strings naturally have some string resonance/buzzing if not muted properly, and most of the unwanted noise I seem to have is a result of that and my playing and not the pickups. Its also kind of strange that the frets actually extend a little past the neck? I have noticed that while my action is pretty ideal at frets 1-15 neck, when you get to about fret 20 or so it becomes a lot more difficult to effectively fret these strings. Not sure if this is something I'll be able to solve on my own by making adjustments, or if the neck is just a little funky/warped. Even if that is the case, I think I got my money's worth here just being able to experiment with the two additional strings and learning proper muting technique. I would not call this professional quality nor do I think I would risk gigging with it, but I would absolutely recommend it to a "student" or someone like myself who is not playing professionally. Considering a lot of six strings are 4x this much, it certainly is a great value

I received a very playable instrument that is a great start for those interested in trying 6-string bass. The neck was pretty well setup, and the intonation is perfect through the 24-fret. It's really an amazing instrument for less than $150. The placement of the cable jack is odd (being above the bass tone control), but it isn't a problem using wireless or an angled cable ( which would ideally be included instead of the straight cable), and the pickups are the same length— so the C string is ...

This doesn't seem to impact the sound too much, though. I've been looking an expensive 6-string and wanted to see how I liked playing a 6-string before spending more. I'm having fun with my Glarry and might not bother getting a more expensive one!

Received the Glarry GIB Active 6-String Bass Guitar with Upgraded Electronics. The unit was packaged well. Discovered the guitar was reworked. The headstock has a five inch long sliver that was 0.5 inches wide at the top that was apparently broken off and glued back on with white glue. The guitar was set up well and even the factory strings were satisfactory. The electronics work properly and the tone is great. The active pick-up design has no off switch, however. This forces you to remove the battery after each time you play so it doesn't drain the battery.

I would like to update this review to FIVE STARS. While the bass had a cosmetic manufacturing defect, once Glarry management was informed, they immediately rectified the problem. The BIG Active 6-string bass guitar sounds and plays very, very good. The price makes it a real value. The Glarry service dramatically adds to that value. I'm looking to add more Glarry instruments to my collection.

Bass seems ok but I'm getting a very noticeable high pitched sound coming from it. I've tried different cables, batteries, wireless, different amps, straight into a DI, and it's still there. It makes it pretty much unplayable. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm giving this bass a 5 star rating based on the cost and quality, not because I think it is superior to something else. It's simply worth the money in this category of instruments. I have guitars that cost 5 times as much as this, so it's not about the cost. Even those require a little setup and adjustments for personal requirements. I have guitars that cost 5 times as much as this, so it's not about the cost. Even those require a little setup and adjustments for personal requirements. That said, this bass required another level of adjustments and refinement to get it right and I'll likely continue to work on it. First, the frets needed some smoothing out on the top and bottom edges. The bridge, which is probably the lowest quality part of this bass, needed some fine tuning for intonation and string height. Not unusual for any instrument right out of the box, but this one needed a little more than usual and will likely be replaced by an aftermarket model. The plastic nut needed a little filing for the B string to sit lower for proper height. The nut will also likely be replaced for something more durable which is very inexpensive. The neck was my biggest concern based on previous reviews but those were mostly regarding the previous model. The weight and thickness are fine, it's the unfinished aspect that I'm not in love with. A little fine lacquer would make a huge difference. It was also a little rough around the edges and needs some fine sanding. Overall, the electronics are decent and fairly responsive for something in this price range. Was it worth it for $139? Very much so. Would I buy another Glarry product? Yes. As stated, I have many other instruments and gear that range all over the place in cost, but the most expensive aren't necessarily my favorites.
