I don't think I've ever been more impressed with a budget instrument out of the box. The bass arrived quickly and well packaged. I don't think I've ever written a five star review for anything, but this bass is an exception.
Now, as always, there were issues that come with any budget instrument, particularly one this cheap.
1. The neck was bowed and there was ZERO tension on the truss rod. A few turns of the included allen key, and the neck straightened right up.

2. The outside edges of the nut are cut very bluntly. It won't cut your hand, but running into that sharp plastic is quite uncomfortable. 60 seconds of light sanding with one of my girlfriend's emory boards fixed the issue.
3. The poll pieces of the pickups are not properly aligned. This is more of a rule than an exception, especially with instruments of this price range. I notice no significant change in the volume of the affected strings.
The first two issues were easily corrected and the third doesn't seem to affect tone, volume, or playability.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this bass to a beginner, or a seasoned player like myself looking to expand their tonal arsenal.

This was a nice kit to assemble. I'm glad I had a professional builder to help me though. It goes together as easy as advertised. I had to do all of the tuning to get it to sound great. That is where an experienced builder comes in. It would be worth spending money on having a shop set it up after you build it.

Awesome for the price, just got done staining the guitar gona put a nice coat of polyurethane to make it look perfect then gona slap some EMG 81-85's in it and this this should scream!! Great buy even if you was to use the pickups and hardware that comes with it. I'll definitely buy more!!!
I purchased this guitar kit and I am extremely happy! This kit provides everything I need to assemble my own electric guitar, allowing me to create my unique instrument - it's simply fantastic!
Sweet! All the parts and components of this kit fit great and went together fast...the set up to make it easy and fun to play took a bit longer. I had built a strat diy kit before; this is a great way to learn the mechanics of a guitar. I will buy another when they go on sale.
I love the guitar kits by this company, great for beginners. the most important things to keep in mind while building is 1. Make sure to use the video as a resource for instructions, and 2. make sure to adjust the bridge. It sounds decent and looks great with just wood or if you decide to customize it.
The 170 is my 5th Glarry Guitar I have the GIB 4 string Bass, The GTL Maple Fretboard, The GST-E Lightning Style and a Burning Fire, All are good well Built with nice finishes. They all have a great sound to them. However, my new 170 has a problem with the neck. The distance from the Big E string to the end of the fret is almost nonexistent and when I play bar cords the E string will try to roll of the fretboard. I don't think this is something I can Fix, other than replace the Neck. This Guitar was my 3rd Glarry Guitar. It's a Good Guitar was set up well from day one. The Action is good and the sound I get from it is Great. Only change I made to this one is changed the Strings to D'Addarios EXL 120 42-9 Fun Guitar to Play.
The action is on so that I was pleased right away. No need to adjust anything as the intonation is on as well. After tuning and breaking in the stock strings I was enthralled at the playability of this inexpensive strat style guitar. I played in clean mode with the neck pick up and I found inspiration that comes with guitars costing 5 times more than this. Shipping was fast as well. I am a happy Glarry customer. Having owned a couple of acoustic basses previously, I didn't have high expectations for this one, but I have use for one. I ordered this one hoping it wasnt a waste of money. It wasn't!
Fit and finish is pretty good. There a couple of minor blems here and there, but barely noticable and dont affect the sound or playability in any way. As for sound, I was quite surprised at the deep resonant sound, producing a tight punchy bass without the "flappy" sound that many short scale basses have. As for sound, I was quite surprised at the deep resonant sound, producing a tight punchy bass without the "flappy" sound that many short scale basses have. The electronics work well and allow for quite a bit of tonal shaping. I was quite impressed to see a balanced XLR jack alongside the standard 1/4" output jack!
The action was a bit high out of the box. But nothing that a bit of truss rod adjusting couldn't fix. Once that was done and tuned up, I found that the intonation was excellent.
Best of all, this is great fun to play! I like this bass much better than I ever expected! It looks great and sounds great and does everything I need it to do!

I absolutely love the craftsmanship and the style of this guitar. The sounds is amazing but the strings are tough but I have small fingers so it might be a personal problem but i love my guitar. Rock n roll princess coming soon
The only thing I needed to touch was a small adjustment to intonation. Everything else was fine right out of the box. No fret sprout, excellent action and everything works as it is intended to. For an instrument in this price range I am very impressed with the performance and the quality of it. Thank you boys at Glarry for a job well done. John Velez, happy camper
Pros: looks nice hanging on my wall.
Cons: two nobs wobble around like a joysticks, the bass isn't very loud on any amp or with any cable, even at max volumes on amp and bass, very quiet.
Im assuming it is defective but at least I have wall art. Who has time to learn bass anyway.

Im very surprised at the quality and playability of this guitar!! Not only was it set just about perfect it also has perfect intonation across the whole fretboard! The finish on the body is beautiful however the neck is a little rough as it still has sanding marks left over but over all a great deal for the price!! Will buy another Glarry product again! Not to mention i like the Glarry over my squire classic vibe!
