The bridge must be installed by the user but it is not difficult to do. The tuning likes to slip a little bit right out of the box, but I imagine/hope this will probably improve with time as the strings get used to their stretched length. I think the sound is not bad. It's obviously not going to be as good as a very expensive violin, but it seems perfectly adequate to learn on, and I'm satisfied with the purchase.
