I briefly owned a cheap cello, bought from one of the major online sellers and it was so bad I ended up donating it to a thrift store, so I was reluctant to buy another cheap priced cello, but after watching a professional cellist playing and reviewing a Glarry cello online I decided to give the GC201 cello a try; it arrived today, in perfect condition and I'm very happy with it; it's very well made, it plays well and only a minor bridge adjustment will be needed, for me; it's very good overall ...I briefly owned a cheap cello, bought from one of the major online sellers and it was so bad I ended up donating it to a thrift store, so I was reluctant to buy another cheap priced cello, but after watching a professional cellist playing and reviewing a Glarry cello online I decided to give the GC201 cello a try; it arrived today, in perfect condition and I'm very happy with it; it's very well made, it plays well and only a minor bridge adjustment will be needed, for me; it's very good overall and the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is due to the fingerboard being advertised as made of ebony and it's not; it's painted black, looks like ebony, but the real clear wood color shows underneath, where it was not painted; looking forward to purchase other Glarry instruments, in the future
As an adult hoping to teach myself the instrument I'd chosen the Glarry 4/4 cello based on the better reviews I've seen. All in all I'm quite content with it, no tuning issues, the strings took tune without snapping on me which has happened a few times with economically priced instruments in the past, I'm happy with the general look and feel of the instrument and I'm confident with adjustments I should be quite happy with it.

I do feel like I'm going to need to make a few adjustments, the bridge primarily as it seems a little high and I'll need to shorten it if I want to have an action length of 68-69cm from nut to bridge as the 70.5cm length this instrument seems to be set up to take based on the position of the soundboard and height of the strings off of the end of the fingerboard, it results in a larger distance between notes which is a bit less comfortable than the shorter action length. I'm hoping not to have to adjust the soundpost as it was placed but I get the feeling it might be necessary to do so in addition having to modify the height of the bridge.
Glarry does recommend taking the instrument to a luthier for final adjustment in the little manual it comes with so I'll credit them for that, but for people who like to do everything themselves I do want to mention that some adjustments like above might be necessary to get the best playability.
All in all though, I'm optimistic that baring some big issue with making the little changes I plan to it should be a solid instrument and I'm quite happy with it so far.
Very nice for a beginner! Took a star off only because the bridge wasn't set and it only came with 2 fine tuners. Everything else though was way better than expected!
The bow broke within two days, the bridge is a little high and the strings are not the best. A good starting cello but could be better if you put a little money into it to get a new bow, bridge and strings. Good for the price and is playable
I really do love this violin so far. I've only had it for less than a week and I'm already getting the feel of it down pretty good. I'm consider changing the strings and use the peg dope, give it a few days to really settle in before making your judgement, as I think it's a great practice violin and I plan to use it to play in front of family as well. As for the bow! Rosin the heck out of it first. Enjoy!
This is not a professional viola, obviously. You're not paying for the expert craftsmanship and beautiful sound that you'd get from a 1k+ instrument. However, for the price, this is the way to go. Great for beginners!
The rosin was broken when I opened it and got everywhere. Besides that the purchase was good. It came in a beautiful color and was just the right size. I had a little difficulty tuning it but besides that it was perfect.
The bow needs to be rosinized for a long time before it can produce sound. The pegs will slip and require a lot of force to push in. The sound quality is pretty good though, and the surface is clean and even in color. A very good violin for beginners.
I love my new viola. It was fairly cheap, but it's not a crappy instrument. It is well crafted. The only thing is one of my C strings sounds a little off but still fine. I love that it comes with a case, a bow, rosin. I'm very happy with my purchase.
Great first violin for my son and I to play with and start to learn. I didn't pay close enough attention to all the size options, numbers for dimensions, or which one it defaulted to, so I was quite surprised by how small it was when it showed up. The pictures don't show anything for scale in them to make it apparent which one you are getting. Size aside, it's wonderful! My son and I decided we like it anyway and we're starting to learn!
The strings it comes with aren't great. Drop D'Addario Prelude strings on it and this cello sounds simply amazing. Tuning pegs hold tune, and don't slip. It's a solid cello for a student at an excellent price and it has a sound if you drop great strings on it. If you need a starter cello for a student - you cannot go wrong with this one.
When we first opened the box the viola felt like it came from a lucky packet. The quality doesn't feel great, but the sound is fine. Good for beginners.
My daughter wanted to try violin and we didn't want to commit to a rental for 1 year or spend a lot and find out she didn't like it. The violin came with all accessories and after tuning it, the sound was pretty good. 1 complaint is the bow hair is not very good. The bow hair also doesn't seem to have the correct tension, we had to tighten the bow more than expected to get a clean sound.
I guess you get what you pay for. I bought it for a fun project and it will work just for that. I will buy a better one later on. I wish I had bought a better one first off, but this will do. I will gift it to a child in the neighborhood that wants try a new instrument.
When it first arrived the strings were very loose but after a couple of hours got the violin to sound perfect, but the bow it came with was bent in, can't use the bow, had to use a different bow from a previous violin. But other than that this violin is great, and it takes a minute to get used too.
So the rosin came with shattered into a million pieces upon scratching it up a bit so i need to get new rosin BUT other than that its a lovely violin - im looking forward to learning how to play
It's a well crafted instrument at a good price. Only complaint is that the rosin wasn't great, but that's a very easy fix. For the price, still worth it.
It came with broken rosin, but it also has extra strings, and the case is perfect for my daughter to carry. Our old violin definitely sounds better as it's a much better quality instrument, but this one sounds fine to me as well. I think it's a bargain for a student just learning to play!
If you are a music lover, you should like and protect your instrument. Violin strings are very important, and the violin can't play wonderful music without the strings.
Good strings should have good sound quality, fast tuning, stable pitch, good playability (fingers feel safe, strings react quickly) and long life. The strings used by different instruments are different, and the material of the strings greatly affects the tone of the instrument. The tension of the string is necessary for the string. The tension level is generally divided into five levels: ultra-low, low, medium, high and ultra-high. The higher the tension, the thicker the string. The thicker the strings, the more mellow the sound.
When you are using an instrument, you first need to learn how to adjust the strings, followed by the installation of the code and the use of the bow, especially for beginners of a musical instrument.
